Sometimes it is difficult for someone living with dementia to understand what is being asked of them.
To help get started try one of these phrases to introduce the Helicopter (kit name here…)
- Give short, simple information such as “It’s time for to build the Helicopter.”
- Offer choices, such as “Let’s work on the Helicopter something else?”
- Asking for their help. Such as “I sure could use your help building this Helicopter.”
- Break tasks into small steps such as “Put the screw through the hole.”
