Evening Star™ Worship Ministry for Persons Living with Dementia, Handbook for Worship, Second Edition
This Evening Star™ handbook was written to shape meaningful Christian worship with persons living with dementia. The purpose of the handbook is to help someone experiencing brain changes related to dementia feel like a truly valued child of God.
Our goal is to provide you with many elements of both providing worship time as well as understanding how to walk alongside someone living with dementia.
Evening Star is a specifically designed series of 20 Christian worship service modules that are themed Fruit of the Spirit, Baptism, Lord’s Supper, Heaven, and Holy Days. Each service takes only 20-30 minutes to complete. The original Evening Star™ was written in 2005. Since then, we have learned much more about the changes in the brain, the stages and states of dementia, and how to engage with someone living with dementia. This second edition incorporates those updates.

Evening Star™ Worship Handbook
Item Description:
The Evening Star™ worship handbook can be used in a church, in a senior living facility, or at home with a loved one. It is not only written to meet the needs of professional clergy but is also ideal for families, friends, volunteers, or anyone who wants to create a meaningful Christian worship experience for someone living with dementia.
With each handbook comes a packet of 22 full-color reusable module images that serve as visual cues and theme reinforcement. In addition, the handbook contains 20 engagement opportunity activity modules that reinforce the themes of the devotionals, specifically Fruit of the Spirit, Baptism, Lord’s Supper, Heaven, and Holy Days. These engagement activities are designed for a one-on-one activity or for small groups. The purpose of the engagement activities is to provide a meaningful connection to God for the person living with dementia when time does not allow for the whole service or advanced dementia, or physical restrictions require adaptation. These engagement activities allow for that meaningful connection in as little as 5-15 minutes. A reusable ready-made engagement activity kit is available to purchase for those who do not wish to prepare their own.
Evening Star™ Engagement Activity Kit
